What Does an Iron Fence Cost in Houston?
We haven't published fixed price lists because iron fence cost varies too much project to project — here's exactly what drives the number, and how to get an exact quote.
What Actually Drives the Price
| Factor | Why It Matters |
|---|---|
| Material | Genuine wrought iron generally costs more than ornamental steel because of the hand-fabrication and welding involved. See Wrought Iron Fences vs. Ornamental Steel Fences. |
| Fence Length & Height | More linear feet and taller panels mean more material and labor. |
| Number of Gates | Each gate adds hardware, hanging, and alignment work beyond straight fence runs. |
| Site Conditions | Slopes, existing concrete, tree roots, or utility lines can add time to installation. |
| Design Complexity | Custom patterns, finials, or matching existing historic ironwork add fabrication time. See Custom Iron Fences. |
| Automation | Adding an automatic opener, keypad, or intercom to a gate increases project cost. See Automatic Gate Installation. |
| Removal of Old Fencing | Removing and hauling away an existing fence adds labor if it's part of the project. |
We haven't published a fixed price-per-foot figure here because these factors vary enough project to project that a generic number would be misleading. The only way to get an accurate figure is a short on-site or photo-based estimate — which is free and comes with no obligation.
